Konark Dance School is located on two different locations. The first location is Herndon, VA and the second location is in Maryland. The director (GURU) of this school is Jayantee Paine Ganguly. Her focus is classical Indian dance of Odissi, though she also teaches Kathat,Mohiniattam, Modern dance, etc.. Quality is preferred over quantity which is practiced by having small size classes.
The classes are conducted in an informal atmosphere but the everyone takes the teachings very seriously. In the past year, we had visitors from the Odissi Dance Institute visiting our classrooms providing additional techniques and classrooms for the students in addition to the regular classes.
There are several major performances a year taking place at various local establishments around the Washington area for the public view with a minimal donation at the door. The fund raised at the events goes to a local charity or International charitable organizations such as funds for the children in Afghanistan, Rockville center for autistic children are some of the examples.
