Jayantika
Dance Company is a dance troupe composed of the senior dancers of
Konark Dance School. The name "Jayantika" comes from the working
group of Odissi gurus and scholars who, after the dance form had
suffered a long period of decline, revived Odissi in the late 1950s by
codifying its grammar and establishing Odissi as a classical Indian
dance form. Jayantika Dance Company seeks to contribute to the
continued Odissi revival by exposing new audiences to Odissi dance.
Jayantika regularly hosts guest
artists from India to feature in its performances.
